More and more Philippines nannies come to work in Czech households

More and more parents are paying for professional nannies. The number of agencies focusing on nanny search is rapidly growing, similarly as the number of advertisements in which people are looking for a long-term baby sitter.

Her days always end with the same ritual. In the evening, at eleven o’clock sharp, she gets down to the internet to dial her husband’s number. Due to the regular phone call, he would get up at four a.m. and after an hour’s conversation, he wakes up children so that they could also chat with Mum. Sometimes, Mum would help the children over the phone with their homework and when mother finally goes to bed on the ground floor of a four-storey house in the Střešovice district of Prague, a new day dawns on the other side of the planet or her family. Emily Acielo (46) is one of tens of Philippines housekeepers working and living in Czech families.
